NDAG - Towards a New Nigeria
Approximately four years on since the inception of NDAG in August 2022 the prospects of a New Nigeria remains our hope and inevitably drives our various initiatives. Initially ignited by His Excellency, former Governor of Anambra State Peter Obi's candidacy for the February 2023 presidential election, the promise of resurgence of our bedevilled and fledgling nation remains elusive.
NDAG joined the efforts of millions of Nigerians to advance the prospects of change through what was hoped would have been a free and fair election. Our initial three-man consultation forum, soon expanded to include members and associates, coordinating our activities with other UK based diaspora groups. The Labour party presidential candidate in 2023 offered an opportunity for The Change we all desired. Our draft proposal to formally align NDAGroup, then known as Nigerian Diasporan Consultation Forum, with the Labour Party presidential candidacy formed the basis of our first Communique.
Regardless, NDAG's core objective is to advocate for leadership that serves, unites and reinstates the Nigerian pride. A leadership that drives economic prosperity by instituting and promoting policies and programs that directly impacts on the quality of life at the community level. Our expertise encompasses initiatives which in partnership with stake-holders builds capacity and skillset necessary for sustainable development.
The process of transformational leadership structures remains a challenge. For this reason NDAG recognises the need to engage with processes that enhance credible transitions.
NDAG has embarked on several initiatives in the UK as well as in Nigeria.
In the UK NDAG co-hosted sensitisation rallies and also attended consultation meetings with the Labour Party UK chapter. Peter Obi's visit to the UK ushered further opportunities for first hand engagement with the core Obi-Datti campaign team. These opportunities progressed to NDAG subsequently obtaining formal recognition as Support Group for the Obi/Datti Campaign efforts.
Although activated by the urgency of the political dispensation, NDAG's objectives extends beyond politics. NDAG Regional outreaches in Nigeria served to promote the New Nigeria Obidient movement. NDAG actively sponsored Obidient groups in the North - Kogi, Kano and Kaduna States specifically, embarking on medical outreaches, rallies and other charitable events.
- Sabon-Gari, Kano joint-medical outreach Dec 2022
- Avutu, Imo State Community outreach September 2023
- Donations of Medications to FMC Umuahia, Abia State Oct 2023
- Children's day outreach - Sabon-Gari Kano, May 2025
- Akuku village primary school toilet project, Akoko-Edo Edo State, Nov 2025 etc.
Donations from members and network of friends remains our primary source of funds. Such generosity can only achieve so much hence as a group we are committed to establishing Not-For-Profit ventures to ensure our objectives are not stifled by dearth of resources. In this respect we will like to acknowledge the support from key sponsors of our medical outreaches who donated medications for these events. In this regard, NDAG Consults Nigeria limited was constituted with the objective that our organisation will deploy initiatives in the sub-region in due course.
Looking forward
Obidients and perhaps many Nigerians may have been disappointed with the outcome of the Nigerian 2023 Presidential elections, resulting in continuation of what some may consider the worse of leaderships Nigeria ever had. With 2027 Elections on its way, our advocacy for quality leadership and governance that places the needs of the people above all remains strong.
NDAG partners with communities, local authorities and regional governments committed to building credible systems, human capacity and value driven change necessary for improving health and wellbeing of the people we serve.
To our new members and friends, we welcome you warmly. NDAG is a platform built on collaboration, shared ideas, and collective action. Your contributions, perspectives, and expertise will be essential as we continue to grow.
Together, we remain committed to the vision that first brought us together — a Nigeria that works for all its citizens, both at home and in the diaspora.
